The beginning
Built to keep riders warm
Gerbing has been setting the standard for heated clothing for over 50 years. Founded by Gordon Gerbing on one simple mission — help riders stay warm in the harshest weather — what began as a machine-shop side project grew into an industry-leading brand trusted by motorcyclists around the world. Today Gerbing develops premium heated apparel for motorcycling, work, outdoor recreation, hunting, and everyday winter use, powered by industry-leading Microwire® heating technology.
Our story
Five decades of staying warm
The beginning
Founded by Gordon Gerbing in Washington State. While running a machine shop making Boeing aircraft parts, he watched employees commute by motorcycle through cold, wet Pacific Northwest winters — and designed one of the world's first electrically heated motorcycle garments, powered directly from the bike's electrical system.
Early Adoption
Heated riding apparel gains popularity throughout the Pacific Northwest. Gerbing begins attending motorcycle rallies and trade shows nationwide.
Partnered with Harley-Davidson
Harley-Davidson selected Gerbing as the exclusive manufacturer of its heated clothing line — cementing Gerbing's reputation as the leader in motorcycle heating technology.
The portable era
Gerbing introduced portable battery-powered heated apparel — first NiMH, then Lithium-Ion — launched the Authorized Motorcycle Dealer Program, added armored heated jackets and pants, and partnered with the Natick Soldier Systems Center on heated apparel for the military.
Scaling to meet demand
Gerbing expanded manufacturing and built out a global production and supply chain to support worldwide growth — while modernizing the brand with Bluetooth® temperature controllers and intelligent heat-feedback sensors.
A new chapter
Gerbing was acquired by JustBrand Limited, a global leader in heated clothing innovation — unifying the entire portable heated collection under the Gerbing brand. JustBrand is a family-owned and operated business.
Everywhere you shop
Gerbing expanded into major national outdoor and powersports retailers and launched the Gerbing Cooling Vest collection — bringing personal temperature control to warm weather, too.
Powersports partnership
Parts Unlimited was named Gerbing's official U.S. powersports distribution partner — putting Gerbing heated gear in hundreds of dealerships across North America.
The next generation
Gerbing launches its next generation of heated clothing and an expanded battery-powered collection, with continued investment in Microwire® heating technology and premium, rider-focused innovation.
